Our Story

Since 1997, Wildcoast Adventures has been introducing guests to the remote wilderness, wildlife, and coastal ecosystems of Northern Vancouver Island through unforgettable kayaking and wilderness experiences.

From multi-day sea kayaking expeditions and wilderness camping adventures to off-grid glamping at Orca Camp, our trips are designed for travellers seeking a deeper connection with nature and a true West Coast experience.

Our experienced guides share their knowledge of local ecosystems, wildlife, history, and coastal culture while creating safe, engaging, and memorable adventures in some of British Columbia’s most spectacular landscapes.

Whether you’re paddling through sheltered channels, exploring remote shorelines, or enjoying evenings around camp, every Wildcoast adventure is rooted in respect for the natural environment and the places we visit.

Proudly Owned by the Wei Wai Kum First Nation

Wei Wai Kum Logo

Wildcoast Adventue’s sister company Campbell River Whale Watching has operated from Discovery Harbour Marina for many years and has developed a longstanding relationship with the Wei Wai Kum First Nation through shared respect for the territory, stewardship values, and community collaboration.

As previous owners Stephen Gabrysh, Tyler Bruce and Damon Stapinsky began planning for the future of the business, partnering with the Wei Wai Kum First Nation emerged as a natural next step. Transitioning to Nation ownership helps keep the business locally grounded while cultivating potential for First Nation employment, cultural storytelling, and long-term sustainable tourism development in the region.

Today, Campbell River Whale Watching and Wildcoast Adventures are proudly owned by the Wei Wai Kum First Nation, creating opportunities to share Ligʷiłdaxʷ history, culture, and stewardship through authentic on-the-water experiences.

Nearly Three Decades of Wilderness Adventures

Wildcoast Adventures began in 1997 with a simple vision: to share the incredible wilderness, wildlife, and coastal beauty of Northern Vancouver Island with visitors from around the world.

Over the years, the company has grown and evolved alongside the adventure tourism industry, continually investing in equipment, trip experiences, guide training, and guest comfort. Wildcoast was an early leader in enhancing the wilderness camping experience, introducing upgraded facilities, quality equipment, and thoughtfully prepared meals that helped redefine expectations for kayaking adventures on the West Coast.

Today, Wildcoast continues to build on this legacy by offering immersive wilderness experiences that combine adventure, education, wildlife viewing, and stewardship in some of British Columbia’s most remarkable coastal environments.
